Man lost toes after being treated by Colorado veterinarian

DENVER - A man had to have three toes amputated after being treated by a 78-year-old Colorado veterinarian with no license to practice medicine on humans, police said on Thursday. The veterinarian, Francis Freemyer, who operates a small animal practice in Greeley, Colorado, was ticketed for "unauthorized practices," a misdemeanor, Greeley police said in a statement. Police said they were investigating whether Freemyer may have treated other people illegally. The investigation began when medical staff at the North Colorado Medical Center contacted police in June to report that an unidentified patient claimed to have been treated by the veterinarian.  "Ultimately, the patient required surgery to remove three toes due to a lack of proper medical care," the statement said. Freemyer could not be reached for comment by Reuters, but told Denver television station KUSA that he had treated a woman's dog with a topical skin cancer ointment.

Why Man fills wife's hot tub with manure

A former cop is in trouble for allegedly filling his wife's hot tub with manure after he was served with divorce papers. Officers arrived Tuesday morning at a home here, north of Montreal, after receiving a call about mischief. Police said officers caught the man dumping manure, which was piled in the tub and at the house's front door. The man had to be taken down with pepper spray after he took off in a tractor and then resisted arrest when officers caught up with him, police said. Rene Daniel, 64, faces charges of hit and run, assaulting a police officer, obstructing police and mischief over $5,000. He's pleaded not guilty and is to return to court in the coming weeks.

What is Harriet-Tubman-Sex-Tape?

Russell Simmons has taken a load of criticism for a video called the "Harriet Tubman Sex Tape" on his new YouTube channel All Def Digital. The "Harriet" tape uses an actress to portray the famous abolitionist having sex with her "Massa" so that he would let her run the Underground Railroad, and was posted as part of Def Comedy Jam. The video has since been taken down.
Simmons later apologized, after being contacted by his "buddies" at the NAACP to ask him to take it down. "I’m a very liberal person with thick skin," Simmons said. "My first impression of the Harriet Tubman piece was that it was about what one of actors said in the video, that 162 years later, there’s still tremendous injustice. "And with Harriet Tubman outwitting the slave master? I thought it was politically correct. Silly me. I can now understand why so many people are upset. "I have taken down the video. Lastly, I would never condone violence against women in any form, and for all of those I offended, I am sincerely sorry."

Nudist hotel’s plans for alcohol license

Nudist hotel's plans for alcohol licence 'will attract troublemakers'
Britain’s first naturist spa hotel has applied for an alcohol licence, sparking concerns from local residents it could encourage ’lewd behaviour’ by some of the guests.Councillor Robert Alden said he feared the licence would turn the Clover Spa and Hotel, in Erdington, Birmingham, into a strip club and that it would attract ‘local youths and troublemakers’.‘There will be a rise in inappropriate behaviour and displays of flesh,’ he said, as he pointed out the establishment in Chester Road was visible from a children’s nursery.
An unnamed local resident complained to the council that ‘naturism (predominately male), alcohol and children should not be in close proximity’.However, the owner of the hotel, Tim Higgs, says the objections are unfounded as he only wants to serve guests a glass of wine with their dinner, or on the lawn. I do not get where the objectors are coming from,’ said Mr Higgs, who opened the Clover Spa in 2011. ‘It is a spa, a respectful, quality establishment for naturists, not a pub, you can’t just come in off the street.’ He claimed there had been no objections from the police and councilors were free to visit the premises whenever they wished
